Which Gulf country has the most Shopify stores?
Of the 4,221 Gulf Shopify storefronts we track, 58.5% reach shoppers in the UAE and 27.2% in Saudi Arabia, followed by Kuwait at 11.3%, Qatar 7.7%, Oman 4.7% and Bahrain 3.4%. Only 8.4% reach more than one Gulf market, so the region is six national markets rather than one.
This describes the 4,221 storefronts in our Gulf Shopify file, scanned 27 July 2026. It is a distribution within that file, not a claim about every Shopify store in the Gulf.
Coverage comes from two places, recorded per row in the file's own source column: 93.3% from HTTP Archive, 4.9% from a directory, and 1.7% from both. Every record also carries a Chrome UX Report popularity rank, which means a storefront only appears here if it had enough real Chrome traffic to be ranked. Registered-but-unvisited stores are therefore absent by construction, and that is deliberate: a store nobody loads is not a store you can sell to.
Market attribution comes from the CrUX country signal, so it records where a storefront's actual visitors are, not where the company is registered. A store can reach several markets and is counted once in each, which is why the country percentages sum to more than 100%.

The Gulf is not one market
Only 354 storefronts, 8.4%, reach shoppers in more than one Gulf country. The other 91.6% are effectively single-market businesses.
That matters for anyone treating the GCC as a single expansion target. The UAE is more than twice the size of Saudi Arabia in Shopify storefronts despite having roughly a quarter of its population, and almost none of those UAE merchants are also selling into Saudi. Shopify's Gulf footprint is concentrated in the UAE and barely crosses borders.
About Shopify Plus in the Gulf
Our Plus file holds 495 candidates, 11.7% of active Gulf Shopify stores. The word candidate is doing real work there: these are storefronts showing markers consistent with Plus, and only 3 are confirmed.
So the honest statement is that up to 11.7% of Gulf Shopify stores may be on Plus, and we have confirmed 3. Anyone quoting an 11.7% Plus adoption rate for the Gulf, including from this file, would be overstating what the data supports.
